Terminals at O'Hare crowded, roads congested as Thanksgiving weekend wraps up
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Terminals were crowded at O'Hare International Airport, but flights were generally running on schedule, on what was expected to be a record-breaking travel day this Sunday after Thanksgiving.
The Transportation Security Administration said it expected to screen more than 3 million people nationwide Sunday alone.
Meanwhile, traffic on the Kennedy Expressway was especially heavy late Sunday—with the trip from downtown Chicago to O'Hare taking 50 minutes. Anyone heading out for a flight is advised to arrive at the airport two hours early—something to be kept in mind for anyone braving traffic to get there.
However, flights were generally arriving and departing on time at O'Hare—with only a handful of delays and very few cancellations.
In all, the TSA said it expects to screen 18.3 million people from Tuesday, Nov. 26, through this Monday.
