Two teens killed, three others hurt in West Side crash

CHICAGO (CBS) — A 12-year-old girl and a teenage boy died, and three others were hurt after a crash late Saturday night in Garfield Park. 

Chicago Police say around 11 p.m., a red SUV was speeding and ran a red light in the 3800 block of West Harrison Street. That SUV was hit by a silver car before it hit a pole. 

The driver of the silver car stayed at the scene.

Five passengers in the red SUV were all taken to local hospitals.

A 12-year-old girl, identified as Imani Epps, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she died, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Police said a teenage boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. 

He was later pronounced dead, but his name and age have not yet been released by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said the other three passengers in the red SUV suffered minor injuries.

Major Accidents Unit was investigating.
