Teen Charged With Shooting At State Trooper Near Dan Ryan

(CBS) -- A teen is due in bond court Monday on charges that he tried to kill a state trooper Saturday night, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

The trooper was trying to talk to the passenger in a car he had just identified as stolen while at a gas station at Garfield and Wells just off the Dan Ryan Expressway at around 9 p.m. according to State Police.

Police say the 17-year-old suspect ran off only to be chased by the trooper. They say the pair exchanged single gunshots but neither was hit.

The teen was arrested and faces attempted murder of a police officer in addition to weapons and other charges. Police are still looking for the driver.
