Teen Charged With Killing Father, Son In Palatine
PALATINE, Ill. (STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy charged with two counts of murder for the fatal shooting of a father and son in northwest suburban Palatine is being held without bond.
Marco Lopez, 17, is charged with the murders of Segundo Reynoso, 38; and his 15-year-old son Luis Reynoso, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
On Friday at the Rolling Meadows courthouse, Judge Jill Cerone-Marisi ordered Lopez held without bond, according to state's attorney's office spokeswoman Lisa Gordon.
The victims were discovered lying on the floor with gunshot wounds in an apartment at the Baldwin Greens Apartments in the 1900 block of Green Lane North in Palatine about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to Palatine police.
They were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where they were pronounced dead about 1:20 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Autopsies Thursday found the elder Reynoso died of a gunshot wound to the face, while his son died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner's office. Both deaths were ruled homicides.
Police said the teenage victim had gang ties.
Lopez is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 18 in Rolling Meadows, according to prosecutors.
