Man Surrenders After Holding Woman, Child Hostage In Dolton

DOLTON, Ill. (CBS) -- A SWAT team was called in after a man took a woman and a 4-year-old child hostage in south suburban Dolton late Thursday.
The standoff began in the early afternoon at the Prestige Inn & Suites, 1335 E. Sibley Blvd., and went on for more than six hours.
Dolton police said officers from their department and the South Suburban Emergency Response Team tried negotiating with the 33-year-old man to surrender, or at least to release the child and 25-year-old mother.
At 8:25 p.m., the South Suburban Emergency Response Team breached the door and got everyone out without incident, police said.
Everyone was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but no one was severely injured, police said.
No weapons were involved.
