Suspect In Murder Of 7-Year-Old Amari Brown Arrested In Wisconsin

(CBS) - A suspect in the murder of seven-year-old Amari Brown earlier this month was arrested in Superior, Wis. Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says Rasheed Martin, 20, was taken into custody without incident at a residence in the Bartley Manor Complex at 3900 Tower Ave.

Martin was wanted on a warrant in connection with the murder of Amari Brown, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of North Harding on July 4.

Martin is being held in the Douglas County Jail pending extradition to Illinois.

Amari's uncle Carl O'Neal says the arrest does not ease his heartache.

"It's not going to bring my nephew back, I'm just praying the system works out."

Rev. Ira Acree said there isn't a sigh of relief but, "We are just happy there is some progress and that this is a top priority with the Chicago police department."
