Suspect Charged In 2013 Shooting That Critically Wounded Man

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged in connection with a shooting that left another man critically injured last year on the West Side.

Jamel Crowder, 20, faces felony counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, police announced early Monday.

The shooting happened a few minutes after 11 p.m. Feb. 20, 2013 in the 2900 block of West Harrison Street, when Crowder allegedly shot a 41-year-old man, according to a release from police News Affairs.

The 41-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said at the time.

Crowder, of the 500 block of South Campbell Avenue, was identified and arrested after an investigative alert was issued, the release said.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court on Monday.
