Summer-like warmth in Chicago

Sun peeks through clouds Wednesday

CHICAGO (CBS)  Hazy sunshine and much warmer than normal temperatures continue Wednesday and Thursday.

We are tracking a batch of wildfire smoke high in the sky, blowing our way from the western U.S. While hazy skies will enhance sunrises and sunsets, we are not expecting any negative air quality impact at ground level.

Tropical Storm Francine is intensifying and moving toward Louisiana. After landfall, the storm is expected to run northward up the Mississippi River valley, but a blocking ridge of high pressure keeps it from coming to our doorstep.

This means that while we will see increased clouds Friday through the weekend along with breezy lake winds, the prospects for wetting rainfall are decreasing. Stay tuned for forecast updates.
