Suburban Fire Crews Battle Extra-Alarm Blaze At Furniture Warehouse

Listen to Flames Could Be Seen For Miles

(CBS) -- An extra-alarm fire broke out at a southwest suburban furniture warehouse Thursday evening.

Crews from neighboring suburbs were called about 6 p.m. to assist with the blaze at The RoomPlace, 2501 Internationale Parkway in Woodridge, according to the Pleasantview Fire Protection District.  The store was open at the time and had to be evacuated, officials said.

Company representatives say the fire occurred at The RoomPlace's distribution center.

"Everyone has been evacuated safely and there are no injuries or fatalities to report," a statement released Thursday night said. "Our immediate focus is on our employees. We'll continue to work with the Woodridge Police and Fire Department and will provide additional updates as they are available."

The building was still burning into the late evening. By Friday morning, crews were putting out hot spots left by the huge blaze.

A boil order was in effect for nearby residents.
