CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police on Tuesday issued a community alert about a rash of burglaries last month in the Wicker Park, Bucktown, and Avondale areas.

The burglaries all happened Wednesday, Sept. 4. In each, the burglars used a crowbar to pry open the rear door of a business, and once inside, they stole cash, pried open the cash registers, and stole several other items, police said.

The burglars then went back through the back door of each business to leave. They have been using a four-door Hyundai sport-utility vehicle with no front plate as their getaway car.

The first burglary on Wednesday, Sept. 4 happened at 1:17 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, the second at 2:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, and the third at 4:42 a.m. in the 2900 block of North Elston Avenue.
