Stolen Porsche collides with BMW in West Loop; witness says three armed suspects caught

Witness says driver ran red light, crashed into two cars in West Loop

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The driver of a stolen Porsche collided with a BMW and another car in the West Loop Wednesday evening.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. at Canal Street and Washington Boulevard. Video at the scene showed a man led by police into an ambulance in handcuffs.

Police said a stolen white Porsche ran a red light and was hit by another vehicle in the intersection.

The other vehicle was a BMW. The driver of the BMW told CBS 2 he ended up broadsiding the Porsche when it sped through a red light He said the men in the BMW then got out and ran – and they all had guns.

The BMW driver said a pedestrian tackled one of the suspects, and police got the other two. The two adult men and 17-year-old boy were all taken into custody and a weapon was recovered, police said.

Police said the BMW driver was not injured.

Chicago Police and the Cook County Sheriff's police are investigating.
