Stolen Bus Crashes Into Store At Dunning Square Strip Mall

CHICAGO (CBS) -- No one was injured Thursday morning, when someone stole an empty school bus and crashed it into a store at a strip mall in the Dunning neighborhood.

Police said the school bus driver stopped at a Burger King at Irving Park Road and Narragansett Avenue around 8 a.m., and left the bus idling due to the cold weather.

While he was in the Burger King to get coffee, someone stole the school bus, apparently lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into the front of a Card Frenzy store across the parking lot in Dunning Square shopping plaza.

The thief fled the scene before police arrived. No one else was on the bus, and no one was in the store at the time of the crash.

The crash destroyed the front window of the store, but the overall damage appeared to be minor.
