Stephen A. Smith Apologizes For Short-Sighted Comments On Domestic Abuse
/ CBS Chicago
(CBS) On Friday on "First Take," ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith shared some short-sighted and disrespectful remarks pertaining to domestic violence, sayingthat we need to focus on the "provocation" that leads to such incidents. It created a firestorm of controversy, including criticism from respected ESPN personality Michelle Beadle, and on Monday, Smith shared an apology.
Smith called it "the most egregious error" of his career. He added that in no way did he mean to imply that such incidents are a woman's fault.
Check out the apology below and judge for yourself if you're buying it. While Smith admittedly erred, these remarks are also reflective of a show that encourages such idiotic debate.
