Spring Snow Puts Damper On Chicago Area Golfers
LOCKPORT, Ill. (CBS) --Many golfers have been starting to scratch that spring itch in the past week, that is, until snow put a stop to that Monday.
Big Run Golf Club was one of the many golf courses that opened for the season last week and then, Monday, we got snow.
"We were rolling along and Mother Nature hit us with a curve ball again," says head pro Bill Roper.
He says golfers should be able to be back at it in the next couple of days as we see warmer temperatures.
"I think this is the final swan song of the snow, I hope," Roper says. "Looking forward to getting warmer weather and with the advent of the Masters in a couple of weeks, that is what drives people to the golf course. They see green and beautiful foliage and they want to come out."
Big Run Golf Club did have one person who reserved a tee time for today. Bill Roper says even if that person showed up, he or she was not going to be able to play. Because of Big Run's hilly terrain, the course does not allow golf in the snow because of the risk of injuries.
