Someone You Should Know: Sculptor Taylor Zitman

(CBS) -- Her interest in art -- in particular, making clay figures -- began at a young age. Now, she's a young woman who's still at it.

CBS 2's Harry Porterfield says sculptor Taylor Zitman is someone you should know.

As an 8-year-old, she felt she had a lot of creative ideas she wanted to express. She tried painting and drawing, but it just didn't work. Then Harry Potter came along and inspired her.

From that beginning, generations of clay characters, by the dozens, took a life of their own. Her influences are everywhere today.

"From pop culture to things I see day to day in Chicago, to things that I hear about. Really anything can inspire me at any time. I never know. That's when I start sculpting," Taylor, 26, says.

The Indiana University grad, a project manager at Groupon, has also produced several videos featuring her art work, using stop-motion animation.

"I started animating when I got to college. I wanted to see my work come to life," she says.

Taylor also creates an assortment of clay figures that can take their place on the top of a wedding cake.

"It's certainly something that I'm proud of, and it's something I'm very passionate about and something that I really love," she says.
