Snow tapers off Wednesday in Chicago, more snow on Thursday

CHICAGO (CBS) — Snow tapers off Wednesday, but more snow is on the way. 

Wednesday's highs will be in the 30s with some snow to start off the day. Only minor accumulations are expected. 

Clouds break for some sunshine later in the day. 

The next snow chance arrives late Thursday into early Friday morning. Widespread snow is expected for the first half of the day on Friday. Total snow accumulations are between 1 to 2 inches with isolated amounts of 3 inches, which could lead to travel problems on the roads. 

Snow tapers off by Thursday afternoon as temperatures fall into the teens by Saturday morning. Winter officially begins on Saturday at 3:21 a.m. That will be the coldest day with highs in the 20s. 

A warming trend takes off for Christmas week. Long range models show temperatures next week in the 40s!.
