Small Explosion At Target In Evanston Under Investigation

(CBS) -- Authorities are investigating a minor explosion inside the bathroom of a Target store Wednesday in Evanston.

Crews were called to the store at 2209 Howard St. about 4:15 p.m., following the explosion involving a plastic bottle, according to Evanston police.

Damage was limited to the women's bathroom, police said.

No one was hurt and the store remained open.

The cause of the blast was not immediately known.

A hazmat team and bomb technicians were called to the scene to investigate, as shoppers walked into and out of the store.

No shrapnel was found, and police did not disclose what has inside the bottle.

"It reminds me of the Tylenol killer," said Bobbi Santo, referring to the cyanide laced tablets found on store shelves in the Chicago area in 1982. "It's frightening. That's really scary."
