6 Hospitalized, 3 Students Arrested After Pepper Spray Incident At Naperville North H.S.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Six people were hospitalized Thursday morning, after someone released pepper spray at a Naperville high school.

Several ambulances were sent to Naperville North High School around 7:10 a.m., after a few students and staff reported they were having breathing problems in a small common area, police said.

School officials said it turned out someone had dispersed pepper spray as a possible student prank, causing asthma-like symptoms for four students and two staff, who were taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville as a precaution, officials said.

Principal Stehanie Posey said the rest of the student body was reminded how seriously the school takes the health and safety of students and staff.

"Our students were kept informed, as were our staff, as to what was going on, and they have been reminded to make good choices," she said.
