Sign Of Apocalypse? Some Fear The Mingling Of Peas, Guacamole
(CBS) -- There's a scandal stirring, and even President Obama is sounding off.
It's about guacamole.
The debate started with a recipe tweeted by the New York Times that calls for adding green peas to the traditional dip.
Some guac purists were outraged, talking about it on social media, with the hashtag "guacamolegate."
Obama weighed in with his own tweet, saying he's "not buying peas in guac." His favorite additions: onions, garlic, hot peppers.

On the other hand, Chicago Mexican food expert Rick Bayless is more open-minded.
On his website, he says his restaurants have been known to add things like strawberries, blackberries, pickled cauliflower and even crab to guacamole.
