Shots Fired At Moving Semi On Kennedy Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Several lanes of the Kennedy Expressway were closed for about three hours early Tuesday, after a shooting overnight on the Dan Ryan.

Illinois State Police said, around 2:50 a.m., a passenger in a gold Chevrolet Impala fired shots at a semi-tractor trailer headed north on the Dan Ryan Expressway near Monroe Street.

"I was coming down the bridge. A gold Impala pulled up on my driver's side. Then he slammed on the brakes, got behind me, and came up on the passenger's side, and started shooting," truck driver Matt Mackey said.

The Impala continued speeding north on the Dan Ryan. The truck pulled over near Madison Street. The truck was punctured by several bullets.

No one was injured in the shooting, but Mackey's truck began leaking some sort of engine fluid, so he pulled over at Madison.

Illinois State Police blocked two lanes of traffic on the Kennedy near the scene of the shooting as they investigated and gathered evidence. Those lanes did not reopen until shortly after 6 a.m.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning.
