Shelter Working To Locate Owner Of Dog Rescued From Icy Pond In Tinley Park
(CBS) -- Last Saturday, Tinley Park firefighters saved a dog that had fallen through the ice on a pond.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports the rottweiler has been named "Ice" by P.A.W.S. of Tinley Park, the animal shelter that took the dog over the weekend, warmed her up with blankets and fed her.
P.A.W.S. vice president Terri Buckley says they found a chip in Ice and believe her owners may be in the Joliet area, but so far no luck in contacting them.

"We believe that she might have been either dumped or somehow or other got onto I-80 and when somebody saw her and tried to call her, she got off 80, went onto the pond and tried to cross the pond and that's when the ice broke and she fell through," she said.
Buckley says Ice is doing all right. She says she's thin, scared of noises and hand-shy, meaning she shies away when somebody tries to pet her.
If no owner comes forward after a total of five or six days, Buckley says Ice will be put up for adoption at some point after that.
