Shaw's Status Still Unclear For Game 2
(CBS) Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw's status for Wednesday's Game 2 of the Western Conference Final remains uncertain as he continues his recovery from a lower-body injury suffered in Game 1 of the conference semifinals.
Shaw skated Monday and will skate with the team in practice tomorrow, then a decision will be made for his status Wednesday, coach Joel Quenneville said. Shaw has missed six straight games.
"We'll see," Quenneville said. "We'll put him in practice tomorrow with the full group and make an assessment on him there tomorrow. He's made some real good progress the last few days, and he felt pretty good today.
Quenneville said it's important to get Shaw back because he provides a unique element to the Blackhawks -- he often does the dirty work in front of the net.
"Shawsy brings a real nice element to our team," Quenneville said. "Helped our power play along, and he scores big goals for us. He's got that tenacity. Good in the puck area, he's got some skill and real competitive guy. In a tough series, that element seems to shared by everybody. To get through Minnesota was a tough test for us and even yesterday's game as well. Getting through it without him, we know that element, we have to absorb it because he really brings an intangible to our team that you can use though games and as a season and this series progresses. So it will be fun to get him back in our lineup and look forward to it."
The Blackhawks host the Kings in Game 2 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the United Center.
