Chicago Area Under Severe Storm Warning
CHICAGO (CBS) -- With a large cell of storms moving in from Iowa, a large part of the Chicago area is under a severe storm warning.
UPDATE: 6:00 P.M.
Power outages have been reported across Chicago and the surrounding areas. According to ComEd, more than 1,100 residents are reporting power outages in Dekalb County, more than 1,800 in Kane County, and more than 18,000 in McHenry County.

This Severe Thunderstorm Warning includes most of the Chicago metro and is for severe winds of 60+ mph, even isolated 70+ mph in places. Take cover ahead of these storms! They are moving quickly, to be near downtown 5:30-6 pm, with gusty winds, heavy rain, & lightning. #ILwx

There are reports of downed trees and power outages in Milledgeville, Illinois about three hours west of Chicago. The Village manager said multiple electrical lines are down. Multiple fire departments are assisting the situation. There are no known injuries at this time. Rt. 40 through town is closed. Josie Danner of Milledgeville sent CBS 2 photos of downed trees in the area.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Cook, Lake, Will, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Grundy, McHenry, Lee, Boone, DeKalb, Ogle, LaSalle, and Winnebago counties.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 5 o'clock p.m. in Aurora, Elgin, Dekalb, McHenry, Aurora, and Ottawa.

Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible, and tornados also are possible, according to the National Weather Service. Some areas also could see quarter-sized hail.
