SWAT team responds to 'isolated incident' in Schiller Park

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- A large police presence was seen in Schiller Park in Cook County Saturday afternoon.

According to the Schiller Park Police Department, officers were handling an "isolated incident" on Ruby Street between Ivanhoe and Waveland.

Video posted on social media shows a number of emergency vehicles blocking the street as others arrived as well as what appeared to be heavily armed SWAT team members.

Police later said officers were investigating a domestic dispute in the 3700 block of Ruby Street when one of the subjects threatened a family member with a handgun. The family members then fled the scene, and that person barricaded in the residence.

After unsuccessful negotiation attempts for a peaceful surrender, the Northern Illinois Police Alarms System Emergency Services Team was able to take the person into custody without incident, police said.

The suspect was tranported to a local hospital for evaluation and will be charged when released, according to police.
