"Mistaken" Report Of Man With Gun Prompts Search Of Schaumburg Office Building

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Schaumburg police spent more than half an hour searching a high-rise office building after receiving a report of a suspicious person with a gun, but the report turned out to be false.

Schaumburg Police Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said police received a call around 10:50 a.m. of a man with a gun at the Woodfield Corporate Center at 200 N. Martingale Rd.

Some people who work in the building evacuated, while others sheltered in place, Lindhurst said.

Police officers searched the building, but Lindhurst said the reports of a person with a gun turned out to be "mistaken," and the building was reopened by 12:30 p.m.
