Scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday in Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) — Mostly cloudy and cooler  Wednesday night, with lows in the upper 60s to near 70 in Chicago and mid-60s Wednesday night in the suburbs.

Thursday will start with some clouds, but expect a mostly sunny afternoon. 

Thanks to a lake breeze, highs will be in the mid-80s in Chicago, low 90s in the southwestern suburbs, and upper 70s along the Northshore.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible on Friday as a front moves through the area.

Highs ahead of the front will be in the upper 80s and low 90s. It will also be very humid on Friday, allowing for heat index values to approach 100 degrees southwest of Chicago. 

Behind the front, we'll enjoy cooling temperatures and lower humidity for the weekend.

A second front arrives on Sunday, pushing in even cooler air for Labor Day. Monday's highs will be in the low 70s, and Monday night's lows will fall to the mid-50s.
