Sale 1st in AL, Rizzo 2nd in NL Final Voting For All-Star Game
(CBS) In the early returns for the MLB All-Star Game's final voting, White Sox left-hander Chris Sale is leading the American League and Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is in second in the National League, trailing Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau in what MLB.com called a close vote.
You can vote for Rizzo and/or Sale by clicking here. Voting ends Thursday at 3 p.m.
Rizzo is hitting .276 with 17 homers and 45 RBIs and an .871 OPS this season. His stats stack up with or are better than those of the other four final vote candidates in the NL — Miami's Casey McGehee, Colorado's Justin Morneau, Washington's Anthony Rendon and Atlanta's Justin Upton.
Sale is 8-1 with a 2.16 ERA and a mind-bloggling 0.87 WHIP, numbers that outpace the other four final vote candidates in the AL — Houston's Dallas Keuchel, Cleveland's Corey Kluber, Detroit's Rick Porcello and Los Angeles' Garrett Richards.
