Runners To Kick Off Spring At Shamrock Shuffle
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Runners are coming out of hibernation this weekend for the traditional kickoff to running season in Chicago.
WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports 35,000 runners have signed up for the Shamrock Shuffle on Sunday.
"The Shamrock Shuffle has been, traditionally, kickoff of the running season; a rite of spring," said race director Carey Pinkowski. "Even moreso this year because we've had such a challenging winter."
The 8K course takes runners from the south end of Millennium Park, north through Streeterville and River North, then south through the Loop and into the south end of Grant Park.
"It's a great tour through the downtown area, with a spectacular finish and celebration in Grant Park," Pinkowski said.
Sunday's weather should be perfect for running – sunny, with a high of 60 degrees.
