Possible road rage shooting in Roseland leaves man seriously wounded

Road rage may be to blame for Roseland shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police on Wednesday were investigating a possible road rage shooting on the city's South Side – with involved shots being fired at a moving car, a window getting shattered, and a man being struck in the neck.

As CBS 2's Tara Molina reported, police said Wednesday afternoon they are in the early stages of the investigation into the crime – which spanned two neighborhoods along 95th Street.

Police said, around 9:45 a.m., a 29-year-old man was a passenger in the back seat of a car near 95th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, when someone in another vehicle shot him in the neck. A back seat window was shattered by gunfire.

A police radio call indicated the shooting was a road rage incident – but police have not confirmed that information.

Bullet casings were left in the road.

The car the victim was in kept going two and a half miles west on 95th Street to Ashland Avenue, where the victim called 911. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in serious condition.

Police describing his injuries as serious.

We connected with the family of the owner of the car involved. They did not want to go on camera.

Area Two detectives are investigating the shooting. No one was in custody late Wednesday.
