Rodon, White Sox End 8-Game Skid, Beat Rangers, 3-2
CHICAGO (AP) — Carlos Rodon pitched six effective innings and the Chicago White Sox snapped a season-worst eight-game losing streak, beating the Texas Rangers, 3-2, on Saturday.
The White Sox scored more than two runs for the first time in seven games. Adam Eaton had two singles and scored a run.
Rodon (3-1) gave up two runs and four hits, striking out five and walking three. He bounced back after giving up seven runs in 3 2-3 innings against Pittsburgh in his last start.
David Robertson pitched the ninth for his 14th save in 18 chances. On Friday night, he allowed two runs in the ninth of a 2-1 loss to the Rangers.
Nick Martinez (5-3) gave up two earned runs in six innings. He gave up seven runs in 3 1-3 innings in his last start against Chicago on June 3.
Chicago avoided losing nine consecutive games for the first time since 2013.
The Rangers struck out 11 times after fanning 16 times on Friday night. White Sox relievers Zach Putnam and Zach Duke combined to strike out five straight during the seventh and eighth innings.
The struggling White Sox offense caught a break in the third. After three straight singles, Adam LaRoche's sacrifice fly put Chicago ahead. Melky Cabrera was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Alexei Ramirez hit a groundball that bounced past shortstop Elvis Andrus for an error to allow two runs to score.
Texas closed to 3-2 in the fifth. Carlos Corporan hit an RBI single and Rougned Odor beat out a double play to allow another run to score.
Chicago had other chances to score. The White Sox left the bases loaded in the fifth when Carlos Sanchez grounded out.
Ramirez grounded out with the bases loaded to end the first. Earlier in the inning, there was a delay of 3 1-2 minutes to determine if Cabrera was hit by a pitch.
TRAINER'S ROOM
Rangers: OF Josh Hamilton (hamstring) is expected to work out at Double-A Frisco on Sunday, then take Monday off before he works out with the Rangers on Tuesday in Arlington. Then he will possibly begin a rehab assignment.

Rangers RHP Yovani Gallardo (6-6, 3.16 ERA) is scheduled to start against White Sox LHP Jose Quintana (3-7, 4.03) in Sunday's series finale.
