Road rage may be to blame for crash in north Chicago suburbs

Crash in north Chicago suburbs may have been caused by road rage

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (CBS) -- Police late Monday afternoon were investigating a crash in north suburban Northbrook.

The crash happened on Waukegan Road between Walters Avenue and Voltz Road.

Northbrook police said several officers were called to the scene at 3:20 p.m. A possible road rage incident led the driver of a black Chevrolet to lose control, hit another vehicle, and finally hit a utility pole, police said.

One driver was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was examined by paramedics at the scene and released without going to the hospital.

One of the cars involved in the possible road rage incident fled before police came.

Overhead, the view from Chopper 2 showed at least one car completely wrecked and split into several mangled pieces on the grass alongside the roadway.

Police said they continue to investigate the crash due to "several inconsistencies."
