2 Men In Serious Condition After Shooting In River North

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Two men are in serious condition after a shooting in River North early Thursday morning.

Police said the victims got into an argument with another man, who fired shots from his vehicle near Illinois and State streets just after 2 a.m.

A 33-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 30-year-old man was shot in the back.

Both are in serious condition.

Violence in River North has been a concern among city leaders and residents. Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd Ward) said a stronger police presence is needed downtown.

Wednesday morning, a Chase employee was stabbed in the neck. The attack happened at the branch near North Dearborn Street. Police are questioning a person of interest in that attack.

Saturday morning, around 1:30 a.m., there was a robbery in the middle of State Street. Witnesses said one man was getting robbed and when another man tried to help, the suspects attacked him too.

One man was arrested and is due in court on Thursday.
