Rescue Group Hoping To Find Owner Of Wayward Lizard
CHICAGO (CBS) -- No one has yet claimed the bearded dragon found earlier this week on a golf course in Skokie, and time is running out.
"She was very well loved, and I'm sure somebody's missing her," said Friends of Scales Reptile Rescue founder Erica Mede. "If you met her, you'd fall in love with her."
The lizard has been named Caddy, like "Caddyshack," since she was discovered at the Evanston Golf Club, and Mede said she is healthy and sweet.
"She's been actually sitting on the technician's chair at the clinic. She sits on our shoulders," Mede said. "She's just got these big, beautiful eyes, and … she's just all excited to see food, she's excited to see people, so she was very well loved at some point."
Skokie Animal Control was called when Caddy was first found, and veterinarians checked her out, before turning her over to Friends of Scales.
"She is a beautiful yellow color, unless she's a little stressed out, and then she gets a little bit darker," Mede said. "She's over a foot long, so she's about 14 to 16 inches long, from her snout all the way down to her tail."
Caddy will go to foster care in a few days, and possibly put up for adoption, if the owner does not come forward by June 22. The rescue group believes Caddy lived not too far from the Evanston Golf Club in Skokie.
