Report: Yankees Showing Interest In Jose Quintana

(CBS) Add another suitor in the sweepstakes for White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana.

The Yankees are interested in Quintana, Fox Sports' Jon Morosi reported Monday. The White Sox have Quintana on the trade market as they've embarked on an organizational rebuild that will take at least several years to come to fruition. Turning 28 in January, Quintana doesn't fit the time frame for Chicago's return to contention.

Quintana has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the game since debuting in 2012. He's reached the 200-inning mark and made at least 32 starts in each of the past four seasons, and he has a career 3.41 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Quintana was 13-12 with a 3.20 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 7.8 strikeout/nine innings rate in 2016.

The Astros and Nationals are two of the teams most prominently believed to be interested in Quintana, who's under team control for four more years at about $38 million.

The Yankees have what's widely considered to be a top-five farm system, so they have the prospects to interest the White Sox.
