Report: Weems Expected To Be Released After Declining Pay Cut
(CBS) -- It appears Eric Weems will follow fellow wide receiver Earl Bennett out of the Halas Hall door after declining a pay cut.
According to 670 The Score contributor Brad Biggs, Weems declined a pay cut and is expected to be released.
The Bears will save $1.1 million in cap space by cutting Weems. They saved $2.45 million last week when they let go of Bennett. According to CBSChicago.com's Dan Durkin, the Bears currently have $7.7 million in cap space.
Weems was used primarily as a special teamer the last two seasons. The Bears added safety Danny McCray, linebacker Jordan Senn and wide receiver Domenik Hixon in the last two weeks to address their special teams. They also re-signed safety Craig Steltz and cornerback Sherrick McManis.
