Report: Matt Forte To Sign With Jets
(CBS) Former Bears running back Matt Forte will sign with the Jets, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
An eight-year veteran of the Bears, Forte was allowed to leave for free agency in February, following the completion of his contract. He reportedly had interest from the Packers and Dolphins, with Green Bay among the first teams to express interest.
Players can officially sign with teams at 3 p.m. CT, the official beginning of the new league year. Teams have been allowed to work in a legal tampering period since Monday.
Forte rushed for 898 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games last season, while adding 44 receptions for 389 yards and three touchdowns. He missed three games due to an MCL strain.
Forte leaves Chicago with 12,718 all-purpose yards, second to only Walter Payton on that and many other Bears records.
