Real Spring Weather Finally Settling In

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Now, this is more like it.

Spring weather finally seems to be here to stay, after it seemed like someone forgot to show Old Man Winter the door.

Until Monday, Chicago's temperatures hadn't reached the normal high in 10 days, when the mercury topped out at 50 degrees – two degrees warmer than the normal high temperature for March 20, according to the National Weather Service. And while the first day of spring came this/close to the normal high temperature, every day since then has been cooler than normal, until now.

On Monday, we finally got another taste of temperatures that are not only more springlike, but also noticeably warmer than late March usually is. As of 2 p.m. the official temperature for Chicago was 58 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, six degrees warmer than the normal March 30 high of 52.

What's better, you can expect that trend to continue through Thursday, with a forecast high of 56 on Tuesday, 63 on Wednesday, and 65 on Thursday.

The only damper on that weather will be possible thunderstorms Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Friday will bring a bit of a chill to Chicago, with a high of only 48, but then it's back to 60 by Sunday.
