Ray Lewis On Ray Rice Situation: 'Some Things You Can Cover Up … Some Things You Can't'

(CBS) Somewhat curiously because he's a friend of so many in the Ravens organization, Ray Lewis was given a platform by ESPN to shine perspective on the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal on "Sunday NFL Countdown."

Not surprisingly because he's a friend of so many in the Ravens organization, Lewis largely defended many in the franchise following a report by ESPN that the Ravens knew more about the Rice incident than they let on recently.

Lewis praised general manager Ozzie Newsome and owner Steve Bisciotti during the segment, claiming that the duo was always truthful to him during his playing days.

Then he made quite the odd statement.

"There's some things you can cover up, and there's some things you can't," Lewis told host Chris Berman.

Lewis famously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice following an incident in Atlanta in 2000 in which two men were murdered. Lewis was initially charged with murder, but those charges were dropped in exchange for testimony.
