Quinn Signs Bill To Allow Residents Who Moved To Register On Election Day
(CBS) -- Governor Pat Quinn has signed a law that makes it easier for many Illinois residents to vote, reports WBBM's John Cody.
Quinn singled out one provision that allows someone who forgot to re-register after moving to register and vote all on election day.
"In a mobile society where one out of eight people move every year, change of address becomes a very important thing in order to maintain your registration and you want to make it as easy as possible," said Quinn.
Other provisions include relaxing requirements for a photo ID to vote in the local polling place and allowing universities to serve as polling centers for students with absentee ballots.
Quinn rejected any idea this is a temporary scheme to give Democrats an advantage this November saying it's temporary just to see how well it works.
