Prosecutor Helps Stop Accused Killer Who Bolts From Bond Court

(CBS) -- A Cook County prosecutor got more action than he bargained for today, when a murder suspect bolted from bond court.

Deshawn Johnson, 26, is accused of shooting an employee at a West Side Chinese restaurant in the course of robbing it last Halloween.

Appearing in bond court Friday, Johnson suddenly took off running and was chased by deputies and lawyers alike. Eyewitnesses say the defendant was eventually detained by Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Barry Quinn.

County officials confirm Quinn, who had been wearing a pinstripe dress suit, had a hand in stopping the suspect. It wasn't immediately clear if he tackled the suspect or blocked his path.

Johnson now faces additional charges, on top of the six felonies he faces. He is being held without bond.
