Principal To Leave School Rocked By Claims Of Anti-Semitic Bullying
(CBS) -- The principal of a West Town school rocked earlier this year by allegations of anti-Semitic bullying will move to another school, officials said Friday.
Josh Vander Jagt asked to be reassigned from Ogden International School and has been granted that request, says Barbara Byrd Bennett, CEO of Chicago Public Schools.
"Principal Josh Vander Jagt recently led Ogden International through a challenging time. Vander Jagt's highest priority is a safe learning environment that allows students to focus on their studies. He recognized that his continued leadership of the school would be a distraction and prolong the healing process for the school community," Byrd Bennett said in a written statement.
Parents criticized the school's administration earlier this year amid reports of bullying directed at Jewish students. That included a student's claims that peers playing the video game "Clash of Clans" had started a team called "Jew Incinerator."
Some parents said officials were slow to react and that punishment amounted to a slap on the wrist.
