Police: Woman Tried To Lure Child Outside Little Village School

(STMW) -- Police are searching for a woman who grabbed a 9-year-old girl outside an elementary school on Friday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The girl was standing in front of a school in the 2800 block of West 24th Boulevard after dismissal about 2:45 p.m. when a woman walked up, called the girl by name and said, "Your grandmother told me to come get you," according to a community alert issued Monday evening by Chicago Police.

The woman, who was with two other children, then grabbed the girl by the arm and tried to walk away with her, the alert said.

The girl saw her father nearby and broke away from the woman, police said.

The woman is described as a Hispanic woman between 40 and 50 years old, about 5-foot-1 and 180 pounds, with brown hair and several small moles on her face. Police said she was wearing a pink sweater.

Anyone with information should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
