Police: Wheeling Man Sexually Assaulted Girl, 16
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A northwest suburban man is facing felony charges for getting a 16-year-old girl drunk and sexually assaulting her last fall, according to police.
In November 2013, Virgilio Carvajal-Mendoza, 24, of Wheeling provided alcohol to the girl until she was drunk, then drove her to an apartment complex, according to a statement from Wheeling police.
Carvajal-Mendoza then sexually assaulted the girl while she was in and out of consciousness, police said.
The incident was reported in August and Carvajal-Mendoza, arrested Thursday, "provided statements to detectives indicating his involvement," according to police.
He is charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, police said.
He is being held on a $225,000 bond and his next court date is scheduled for Oct. 20 in Rolling Meadows, police said.
