Police Warning Hyde Park Residents After Armed Robberies Near MSI

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are warning about a series of armed robberies occurring across the street, and down the block, from the front entrance to the Museum of Science and Industry.

Police say a trio of boys, appearing to be between 16 and 18 years old, are believed responsible for the holdups, on the 5600 and 5700 blocks of South Everett Drive, just north of the museum.

Typically, the trio approach a victim, pull a gun and demand the victim's valuables.

The suspects are said to be African-American, between 5-foot-6 and 6 feet tall, and weigh about 150 pounds. One is described as having hair done in corn rolls or dreadlocks, and has worn dark jeans and a dark long-sleeved shirt. The other two in fade haircuts.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
