Police Warn Of Knifepoint Robberies At Convenience Stores

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are warning about recent armed robberies of convenience stores on the Near North Side and South Loop neighborhoods.

In each case, two offenders used a knife to take cash from the register and cashier's wallet, according to an alert issued by Area Central detectives.

The first robbery happened on the 1000 block of North Dearborn Street on Jan. 26 at 11:20 a.m. Another robbery occurred on the 1900 block of South State Street the same day at 1:15 p.m.

Police describe one suspect as a black man between 6-foot-4 and 6-foot-6, between 200 and 230 pounds and between 30 and 35 years old. He has a medium complexion, short hair and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white gym shoes and a gray and black single strap book bag.

The second suspect is described as a black man between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-8, between 130 and 150 pounds and between 22 and 26 years old. He has a medium complexion and short hair, and was wearing blue jeans and a blue or black jacket with dark white lettering on the left chest pocket and right sleeve, the release said.
