Police Seek Driver Of Semi That Struck Pedestrian In Elmhurst

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A semi truck did not stop after hitting a pedestrian, leaving him critically injured early Tuesday in west suburban Elmhurst.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was in the 700 block of North York Road about 3:30 a.m. when the semi struck him, according to Elmhurst police. He remains in critical condition.

Authorities think the driver may not have realized a pedestrian was struck. Police are asking anyone who can help identify the vehicle involved, which is described as a light-colored Peterbilt tractor towing a light-colored trailer.

The semi headed north on York Road from Fullerton after the crash, police said.

Anyone with information should call police at (630) 530-3057.
