School Bus Driver Shot While Transporting Teens

CHICAGO (CBS) --A school bus driver was injured aboard his bus during a shooting in the West Garfield Park on Friday evening.

The shooting happened at Jackson and Kildare around 5:30 p.m. The 31-year-old driver was transporting students to King Jesuit College Prep when someone opened fire nearby.

Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the bus driver was grazed in the face, or may have been hit by flying glass. The man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and was stable.

"It's unclear at this point whether the driver was the intended target of the shooting or whether he was struck driving in the area when the shooting was occurring," Guglielmi tells WBBM Newsradio.

Police say none of the students were injured.

No one is in custody.
