Gary Cop Shoots Suspect Who Allegedly Tried To Run Him Over

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A police officer in Gary, Indiana, shot a man who allegedly tried to run him over early Friday.
Police said the officer was responding to a 911 call about a suspicious vehicle near 15th Avenue and Colfax Street around midnight. When the officer arrived, the suspect allegedly tried to run him down in a vehicle.
The officer, a 10-year police veteran, opened fire on the vehicle, striking the suspect at least once.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
The Lake County Sheriff's department was brought in to handle the investigation, but has not released further details
