Police: Man Tried To Sexually Assault Girl, 14

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man attempted to sexually assault a teen girl on Monday in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side, police said.

The 14-year-old girl was walking in the 2500 block of West Morse Avenue about 8:45 p.m. when a man in a dark-colored four-door vehicle stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride, according to a community alert issued by police Thursday night.

After the girl declined and continued walking, she felt a hard object at her neck, and the man from the vehicle told her to follow him, police said.

He led her into a gangway, where he pulled her to the ground and tried to undo her belt, the alert said.

A motion sensor light in the gangway turned on and the man fled, police said.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot, 240-260-pound white man between 44-55 years old, with white hair and beard. He spoke with an accent, the alert said.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
