Police: Man Charged When Cops Find Child Porn On Cell Phone
MARKHAM, Ill. (STMW) -- A south suburban man was arrested after going to a police station to pick up his cell phone, on which police found images of child pornography, authorities said.
Richard Fowler, 51, of Blue Island is charged with one felony county of child pornography, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
Police first responded to a Blue Island home regarding a report of domestic battery between Fowler and a female. While there, police found a cell phone turned on, displaying three images of minors engaged in sex acts, a statement from prosecutors said.
Fowler told police the cell phone was his, and he was arrested when he came to the police station to pick it up, prosecutors claim.
A forensic analysis found evidence of downloaded images of children younger than 13 pictured in acts of sexual conduct, prosecutors claim.
Judge Darron Bowden ordered Fowler held on $30,000 bond at a hearing Thursday. He will next appear June 30 at the Markham courthouse.
